Happy Labour Day peeps... At least... hope it's happy for you guys... I'm a bit under the weather now... probably cos it's really been a tiring week... Let's see... Parade rehearsals on Mon and Tues, actual parade on Tues afternoon... Had a Medical checkup at Nus on Wed morning, then went back to camp to prep my vehicle to be handed over to the workshop... Thurs was also spent prepping the vehicle... Friday I was on duty but had to help in the handing over too... all in all... a very tiring week... Hm.. Now where do I start??
Monday/ Tuesday:
Nothing much, just the same parade rehearsals... Hearing the same old, "Sharper than that gentlemen!!", "Close your fingers!!", "Bang down your leg faster!!"... sian... hear until we can remember it by heart... got back to camp at 2 plus... too tired to do anything... all of us took a short nap... then went out for dinner, got back to prep for the real parade on Tues... Tues morning had rehearsals too... same as always... then we rested till afternoon and prepped for parade... in between, we had lunch and the Chief Armour Officer came to talk to us too... so didn't really get much sleep... The parade was ok... cos it rained before we started, so it was more cooling... Had 4 guests of honour... Chief of Armour, Chief of Army, Chief of Defence Force and Minister of Defence... so, we had to present arms aka arms salute 4 times, plus 2 times for the colours when they entered and when they paraded around the square... Then came the recitation of the SAF pledge and 1 minute silence for those who lost their lives during training... Then the singing of the National Anthem and after that, the best part... the Fire of Joy... usually used during National Day Parade... this time, we fired shots 3 at a time, instead of one at a time... but it also sounded great... hehe.... after that, we had the armour vehicle drive past... all 20+ vehicles... that's a lot of vehicles... had dinner and went back to camp to pack up.... then I went home in the crowded MRT...
Wednesday/ Thursday:
Went to NUS for medical checkup today... went with Shiqin, supposed to meet 2 other friends, but they wanted to go earlier, so I just met him and took the train there... Tot there would be a lot of ppl there, but as it turns out, not many were there... so we breezed through it quite fast, around 30 mins... noe bad thing though, is that we got bombarded by those societies who waited outside for us to go take our chest x rays... they all wanted us to give our names for their orientation camp thingys... sheesh... If I was interested, I'd ask... anyway, I had to get back to camp so I left Shiqin at Jurong East after lunch... (Sorry about that Shiqin, but I had to rush)... He took the east line, I took the north line to camp... Y? Cos I had to settle my vehicle... we were going to hand over the vehicles, and needed to make sure they where in top form... although y they had to be, I don't know... as long as it works, fine with me... So I joined the rest and we tackled all 6+ vehicles... ended at 6 plus, we were damn tired already... with all the greasing, cleaning, pumping, oiling... sheesh... and the worst thing is that some areas we had to grease were really out had to reach... like what Ronald said... 'Wah, must be very flexible to be able to reach that'... Actually... I wasn't THAT flexible... I was just on my belly, on the floor of my vehicle, trying to reach something smaller than my pinkie that was situated in the middle of the engine compartment floor... argh!!! I nearly couldn't get my hand out!!! I was trying to grease something, and my own arm needed greasing too!!! WTF!! That's the problem with those engineers who designed the vehicle... they designed it based on the fact that we're not carrying anythings, when we actually have SBO and helmet... and they placed those things in such out of the reach places, for what?? You guys have the big cranes, hydraulic jacks and stuff, but we don't, so spare a thought for us!!! It was only Ronald and me working on my vehicle on Thursday, the rest were clearing leave... and we worked till 7... Then I decided that I should go home, cos no one was in the bunk, so I packed up, changed and told Hock, who was doing COS, that I'll come back the next morning, and take over him, cos it was my duty on Fri...
Friday:
So it's Friday and I'm on duty... kinda happy cos today's duty is only until night... cos it's half day, Sat is a holiday... But what a day man... went to find the person in charge of the waste oil store so I could go and dump this huge bag of oil we drained from the vehicle yesterday... got back in 20 mins... found out OC gave the rest a half day, so while there were busy trying to book out, my PS and I were busy sorting out the paperwork and stuff to hand over the vehicles today... went down to the vehicle shed with a whole trolley of paperwork cos each vehicle had 2 binder files and a log book... and we had to hand everything over... and I was there from 1030 to 2!!! I missed my lunch even!! I had to run around all the vehicles, touching up things some of the others didn't do... cos they wanted it all ok... and most of the guys didn't take out their drain plugs... I had to do all... think I took out around 8 of them... by the time I was done, I was super tired... cos I hadn't eaten and I still had my cold... Got back to the office at 2 and just plonked down there... super tired sia.... I didn't eat until dinner... then locked up the office and handed in the keys, and I left camp at around 8...
Clubbing!!
Ok... I went to China Black again on Wed with Shiqin... went there to meet Val, Khas, Johan, Edwin, Kenny and Shilin... guess the guys got there early, cos they managed to get the VIP seats... haha... good for you guys!! At the start, the music wasn't too great, so we just sat there, chatted as best as we could cos we were just under a huge speaker... only when the songs got better did we hit the dance floor... And when we said hit the dance floor, we really HIT it... in the end, we took over the entire platform area... ahaha.... I won't bore you with all the songs or whatever... let's just say that the 2 girls were really great that day... although it was crowded, they still managed to groove... Woohoo!!! ;) Think I'll just talk about the interesting ones... like 'The Vibrator'... it's actually a girl who's either high or on drugs cos she sure dances like one... imagine a person dancing with her head bobbing up and down, pelvic region going front back front back.... and NOT MOVING FROM THAT SPOT!!! She was so preoccupied that she bumped into Johan and fell off the stage, and she still said that Johan pushed her... sheesh... And she stepped on Val's foot too!! Twice!! Poor Val... ;)'
Then there's the idiot Ang Moh who thinks he really can dance... I don't know... what dance do you can that? The Scarecrow where you basically don't move much, arms out like a T... shifting from one foot to another... what kind of f***ing dance is that???? Then he tried to get close to this pair of girls, one tall, one short, who were dancing on the platform with us... they didn't even care about him... so he moved over to Kai, who joined us a bit later... Anyway, he moved over to her and I was actually watching him... the moment he nearly touched her, Val just shifted her over the the left and Khas took that spot... Wahaha... then he tried to shift over to Val... so I shifted her over and blocked him too... after that, Khas and I just slowly backed up, forcing him off the platform!! Yahoo!! Well done Khas!! After that, we just had to contend with the Vibrator... Oh yeah!!! I nearly forgot!! There was a trans dancing on one of the platforms too!! Nice moves, even put one leg on the counter... haha... great to watch her dance... Then Shilin and Ser went to dance on the bar top... Whoo.... Nice too... all this while, us guys were just enjoying the dancing and 'performances'... hehe... Afterwards, the manager actually gave the girls privileges the next time they came to China Black... argh... guys didn't get anything, but the girls could always reserve the seats for us... hehe... woohoo!! We left the club at 3, then tried to wait for the Bus plus NR7... but WTF... he just waved us off... bloody idiot uncle, in the end, we had to share cabs... I shared one with Val, Johan and Shiqin... I walked Val home while the other 2 took the cab back... Hehe... Johan insisted they take a Merc cab... and he actually managed to flag one, even when there were 2 other cabs already parked in front of him!!! Great going man!!!
Anyway, I got home at 4 plus, slept for an hour then went back to camp... Hehe... But I have to say, that day, it really was worth braving the rain, taking the risk and spending that money... haha... We just HAVE to do this again...
