Finally have some time to post something on this nearly dead blog of mine... heh...

Been kinda busy recently, what with DR 07 practices, my own work and basically the search for that first job still on, I rarely have time to sit down and write out a good post...

Got my own work piling up while I settle other more pressing matters, like helping another friend with his computer... Windows XP is such a bitch to use sometimes... especially when some older programs aren't compatible with it... But, through the use of some clever searching and a slight bit of "ahem" work, it was possible for me and weiming to successfully port over programs from Win 2k to XP... Of course, it took me about a few hours to build his computer for him, neaten it up inside for better airflow... But it took even longer to finish up all the disk images that he needed to be installed on his com, plus, after sending the computer to his office, there was the usual setting up, testing and experimenting with the porting over of programs...

The initial plan was to have a dual-boot OS system, so he could use Win 2k when he wanted to use the programs.. But after hearing that someone managed to port over the programs to XP, we decided to have a crack at it... Took us 2 days, but it worked... Then I had to accidentally screw it up again by doing something I should not have done... bringing all the work back to square one...

And this time, I had to redo it alone cos weiming wasn't available at that time... Managed to get everything back and working within another 2 days.. with numerous calls to wieming to ask him what he did in the first place... But the result now is... a working single OS system with Win xp.. running all the programs he needs!! And I learnt so much about working with XP and so much about myself as well... so that's really a bonus!!

Really managed to give a great sigh of relief after that... but only a short one... had to rush off to school for DR rehearsals... and since I've been waking up at 8am for the past 4 days, for this work and my gym training, and sleeping at like 2am, I was seriously mentally drained... Couldn't even do the first run properly...

Got scolded by pat a bit... but it doesn't really affect me anymore... He was right anyway.. and that night, I went back and watched the videos we took and went to see where I could improve and where I went wrong... Got some help from the guys and some third person critique from Nic as well... It doesn't feel good to have someone point out your mistakes to you, but at the same time, I know what it's the only way to get things right... I still felt kinda down after prac that day, wanted to ask callie out for some coffee and well... some motivation I guess... but she was already at home... But in the end it was ok... had the whole time in the train to think it through and get my resolve back... Didn't expect that call from her, but it was nice to hear her again since the last time we met up... She's a great friend, always willing to lend a listening ear, helping me keep the turmoil that is my mind in check, always encouraging and supportive... I definitely wouldn't want to lose a friend like that... Really a rare gem...

In the end, I did manage to pull everything together... Today was the first night of DR... and the general consensus was that the opening item was great! Only one more night to go... one more night and it'll be done.. then I can focus on more pressing matters...

Once this weekend is done, I basically have time to get my gym training going full steam, meet suppliers to discuss business, start my night runs again, look for research work, finish up my site... and probably squeeze in dinner/lunch with any of my friends... Lunch is easier I guess, since a few of them work in the same area, I know what time their lunch hour is, and I can just work around their schedule... In the Raffles Place area alone, I can probably meet Jas, Callie, Mei and Dan for lunch... If I'm in school or nearby school, Xu zi, Nic or some of my other friends in science would probably be free for lunch... If I'm around Simpang Bedok area, I could probably call Ester too if she's free... Near Blk 85, Weikun is around too... Hehe... I even had a quite interesting conversation with Elson when we went for supper after DR's Full Dress Rehearsal last night... Haha... Got new nicknames for each other too lah.. Hahaha... But I am definitely not what my nick says.. Lol...

Dinner would probably be reserved for friends who have ended work, probaby Jas, Mei, Callie or even my 'brudder brother' Larry... Haha... Got new 'brudder' sia... Guess we can click so well cos we are kinda alike... Both like to pamper their friends somewhat... Both are very direct and basically honest to others... If Weiming is out of camp, then I'll probably meet him too sometime... Both for work and for relaxation...

Someone recently said this to me when I asked if they felt lonely not having someone special in their lives, the answer... "What are friends for?" And now that I look back... I see that it is quite true... Friends are always around for you... it's just whether you want to pick up that phone and contact them...

I haven't met someone who could make me want to get to know them better for quite a while now... but its not important to me any longer... I've got far more pressing matters at hand... and sometimes, relationships just make things far more complicated than they should be... Thats not to say that I'm 100% happy with my life right now though... I am enjoying it, but at the same time, I yearn for more... More things to do, more to learn, more to experience... How many times has one heard that someone has succeeded in life? And what does that imply actually?? I can say that I'm got a yearning to succeed in life... but is that being too ambitious? Or just idealistic? Where's that realistic side of me then? I don't hear it protesting either...

Guess these answers can only be found when one has reached that destination... So... I'll tell you guys when I've reached it.. =)

"Keep moving forward" Very good motto to use... Now I know why you like it too... =)

Around here however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious... and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. -Walt Disney-

This blog is the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced reasoning inherent to the thinking of the mind. It is the eventuality of an anomaly, which despite my sincerest efforts I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mind and body. While it remains a burden assiduously avoided, it is not unexpected, and thus not beyond a measure of control. Which has led me, inexorably, here. (Yeah. It's edited from Matrix Reloaded, so bite me)
