Hrm... it's amazing what you can learn while working... Learnt 2 things today...
One, that the difference between the red and white clam chowder is where the recipe originated from. White clam chowder is basically New England Clam Chowder... where they use a cream base to make the soup, hence the white colour. Red clam chowder, is New York Clam Chowder... where they use a tomato base to make the soup, hence the red colour. I learnt that from one of the regulars of the restaurant... Apparently, she's from New England, and they consider their New England Clam Chowder to be the best out of the 2... heh... guess it depends on where you're from.
Two, that drink companies actually buy the shelves the drink is placed on in stores. So in other words, they own that shelf. If you accidentally arrange the drinks on some other shelf, the company that owns that shelf can actually sue the company of the drink... cool yah? Hee... See... it's amazing what you can learn in life... I don't think they teach you that in University eh? I guess that's y they call it the University of Life... hehe...
Gotta sleep now... have 2 project meetings in a row tmr... from 10am onwards... argh....

Got this from
http://www.ebaumsworld.com ...
An eccentric philosophy professor gave a one question final exam after a semester dealing with a broad array of topics.
The class was already seated and ready to go when the professor picked up his chair, plopped it on his desk and wrote on the board: "Using everything we have learned this semester, prove that this chair does not exist."
Fingers flew, erasers erased, notebooks were filled in furious fashion. Some students wrote over 30 pages in one hour attempting to refute the existence of the chair. One member of the class however, was up and finished in less than a minute.
Weeks later when the grades were posted, the rest of the group wondered how he could have gotten an A when he had barely written anything at all.

Hrm... been working at the C & C Kia roadshow at Suntec this weekend... Sat and Sun, 8am to 9pm... kinda tiring, but interesting too... seeing how things are run and making frens with ppl...
I was basically there with a few of the NUS Motoring Club ppl to do crowd control and other stuff, like giving out balloons and popcorn... If anyone remembers... Kia had this promotion where you could find $5000 and a chance to win a car if you brought this coupon they had in Thursday's newspaper to Suntec on Saturday and tried your luck at opening the vaults. Ppl started queueing at 6am in the morning... they started at 9am... and at 9.03am, someone already won one of the $5k... by 10.40, all the vaults had been won... damn fast... and ppl queued until it stretched out from Carrefour onto the road and around the contruction site... in the sun...
I admit I kinda found their arrangement a bit hard on the people... no shelters out of suntec... ppl standing in the hot sun and risking their lives by walking right next to the road to the end of the queue... Some of them did complain to me, but there's nothing I could do... there wasn't any refreshments or water either... not even for us... I guess they didn't expect such a large crowd...
Anyway... I guess I did learn somethings... like how to interact with ppl even more... working at Big O also kinda helped... esp when ppl kept asking me the same questions... how hard a Sales Exec actually works... they were up on their feet the whole 2 days... the only time to sit was when they were talking with clients... Then I was also fine tuning my method of explaining how the vaults work to the people... I was mostly at the booth for Kia owners, who had a chance to win $9999 instead... no one won btw... heh... But I also helped out at the balloons and popcorn... shift work basically... but no set time... just change when you want to...
I also made frens with the events management ppl... one of them asked me for my number... so they could contact me if there were any jobs... hee.. at $10 and hour... I don't mind as long as it's not too close to my exam period... Saw Glenn Ong and Jean Danker today too... Glenn is actually very funny... and friendly... the MC I talked to worked with Glenn quite a few times... they were there for the games today...
I also got mistaken for a Sales Exec numerous times, each time, I had to refer them to the real ones... heh... proabably cos I was wearing a black polo with the Kia name on it... the SEs were wearing black and red shirts... not many ppl knew that...
Damn tired now... think I'll go sleep soon... gotta mug for CA tmr... hai~...

Got this in my email today....
Amendments to NUS Internal Shuttle Bus (ISB) Supplementary Service: Cross Faculty Movement between Faculty of Science (FoS) and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS)We have observed an increase in the number of students having continuous back-to-back classes between FoS and FASS since the beginning of Academic Year 2005/2006.
To cater to the increasing demand for cross faculty movement, we have decided to reschedule the NUS ISB Supplementary Service with effect from Monday, 12 September 2005.
The rescheduled service will have
one 40-seater bus setting off from each direction:
1. from opposite Hon Sui Sen Memorial Library to Faculty of Science (near Block SoC 1) at 40th and 45th minute before the hour (e.g. 0740hrs and 0745hrs, 0840hrs and 0845hrs, 0940hrs and 0945hrs, etc)
2. from Faculty of Science (near Lecture Theatre 29) to Hon Sui Sen Memorial Library at 50th and 55th minute before the hour (e.g. 0750hrs and 0755hrs, 0850hrs and 0855hrs, 0950hrs and 0955hrs, etc)
The last trip of the Supplementary Bus Service will be at 1755hrs from each direction.
We hope that students rushing for continuous back-to-back classes will be able to board the bus.
Details of the bus service are available in the following URL:
http://www.nus.edu.sg/oed/services/csd/transportation/internlShuttleBusService.htm#sStudents bound for Faculty of Engineering (ENG) are advised to access ENG via Block E5 from Computer Centre.
Students having continuous back-to-back classes between FoS and FASS are advised to be at the bus stops within 5 minutes of the official scheduled class end time (e.g. 1145hrs, 1545hrs, etc). We would also like to take this opportunity to reassure students that with the increasing cost of transportation
(caused by the increasing fuel prices), we try our best to keep the NUS ISB service at sustainable and affordable level, balancing passengers’ needs, expectations and physical limitations.

Huh?!?!!?!? Only ONE bus??? Even if you take it as 2 buses that come during that hour, means only 80 students maximum can get to their classes on time? Then the rest? fly ah?? One lecture size is already 100+ ppl... They think 2 puny buses can help alleviate meh? I think they make the supplementry bus more frequent better... Still want to use the excuse of increasing fuel prices... Allo... the buses run on diesel leh... still much cheaper compared to petrol...
Then still want us to be at the bus stop on time?? Some lecturers don't stop on time... then like that, if a lot of students taking that mod have to get to the other side of the campus, then the situation will still be the same... a whole group of students joslting at the bus stop to get onto the other buses... this can't be their permanent solution bah... there's got to be a better way... increase frequency of the supplementary is one way I think should work...
Another might be to actually EDUCATE the idiotic people who block the way to the back, run up the rear door and block other people from alighting and choose to stand when there's a seat right in front of them. I've ever seen there two WUSSIES, who couldn't bear to leave their girlfriends alone on the seats and move to the back... so coincidentally, both stood back to back, IN THE FREAKING MIDDLE OF THE BUS!!! No one could get past them, and when I looked at them from my spot on the front stairs, one of them had to nerve to look behind him, notice the empty space, AND DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!
Watever lah... I'll just continue my normal way of getting up the bus... squeezing and elbowing occasionally... heh... If I sound pissed today, I am... my nose isn't stopping... it's leaking like crazy... been through like 3 packets of tissue in school... and now I'm using a new box of tissue... stupid nose... tried going to the doctors after school... reached the doc at 10.03pm... they closed at 10pm!! Argh... now I have to wait until 8am to see the doc... think I'll go sleep now... time passes faster... heh...

I just realised there are so far, 2 types of girls in NUS... Val is in a different league altogether, but other than that, I just encountered 2 types today.
This morning, I was sitting outside LT 14 trying to finish reading my 75 slide lecture notes for my lecture later, when this girl asked whether she could share the other side of the table. I saw no harm in it, and told her no one was using the other side. At first, it was ok... then her friend came and they both started talking... and talking... and talking... I was thinking, 'hello, ppl come here first, try to study, and you want to talk so much?"
Throughout the whole 30 minutes they was there, I found out that she...
likes to read blogs in her free time,
listens to Takuya Kimura,
thinks he's cute,
has a mouse that doesn't work sometimes,
isn't a touchpad person,
has a friend who rated a guy C when she saw him,
but rated him A when he found out he drove a sports car,
knows a few engine guys,
thinks one guy is different from the rest cos he composes songs and likes Jay Chou,
has a 30 min break before her next lecture,
and her laptop frequently has problems and shuts down unexpectedly...
Hai~... And it's not like I could go to the library, my nose has been blocked for like the past 2 weeks, so I'm trying to stay away from air con places, that's y I chose the open air there. Got wind k?
I freaking couldn't concentrate cos she was facing me while talking to her friend. Coughing didn't give her a hint, tapping my pen didn't give her a hint... I don't know what would... Then they left and it was peaceful again.
A few minutes later, these 2 other girls came and wanted to sit down, I just let them sit... THIS time, they sat facing away from me, talked quite soft and tried not to interrupt my studying... how nice of them!!
So I've encountered 2 types of girls, one who will start to talk non stop when she's with her friends, and another who will try not to inconvenience you when you're studying... 2 different types from 2 totally different ends of the spectrum...
Some people just don't get a hint... others get it without you doing anything... I definitely prefer the 2nd type...
Ona side note: anyone know a cure for a leaky nose? I think I'll go see the doctor today after school... it's been like that for more than 2 weeks... gets stuffed in air con places, stuffed in open air places... and now it's dripping like water sometimes... I've already used up 2 packets of tissues... and I just bought 2 more in case... Hur... stewpid dose...
Got such a thing as a nose transplant??

Lots to gripe today...
Everything in NUS is spoilt, or on the verge of being spoilt... Really... was taking the lift up to Sci Library today (Yes, I DO go to the library)... Realised that out of the three 4th floor buttons in the lift, 2 don't light up. That was in one lift... I took the other lift down, and saw the same thing... I mean, what's the use of putting in 3 buttons when only one works?
Then theres LT26... freakin' old LT, should have been renovated a long time ago... it still has wooden seats that make your butt ache if you sit on it for too long... for some strange reason though... it's also the coldest... you see... Science Fac could have had it renovated during the last holidays, as it also is one of the most frequently used LTs in Science... But NOOOO... they had to go spend money on making a disabled ramp for the bridge connecting LT25 and S9... I don't even recall anyone using a wheelchair since the semester started.
And I'm not saying that they shouldn't make it more accessible, but that's only a small minor job... everyone I know hates LT26... too cold, too old... too cramp... but they don't fix it... they go fix something that not many people even complained about. Couldn't they do both jobs? FASS could renovate LT11 AND 13 at the same time... Don't tell me there's only one contractor in the whole bloody Singapore that can renovate an LT... and that Arts hired him already... They think wat, Phua Chu Kang ah??
And after the jamming on CORS, you'd think the IT department knew what to do... well... they didn't... cos it jammed again during tutorial registration... WTF?!?!? The last time it jammed was cos nearly the entire school tried to log on... for tut registration, it would also be the same thing... they just didn't learn man, should have anticipated that this would happen, esp when we have kiasu students... I have it on very good authority that on the day of the tut registration, someone actually saw this guy log into CORS, get into the main page, and STAY THERE... doing nothing... WTH...
It's not really nice to say this, but I think this year is a bad year... school started and so many things happen... and I overheard this in a certain canteen one day... "Wah lao, think this year got too many freshies, I see them everywhere. Go library, go photocopy, go co-op... all packed" It's natural for people to blame things on the incoming batch, but sometimes, I think they're right to a certain degree... heh... I mean, nothing's changed much between last sem and this sem... except the intake of the new batch... but they seem really kiasu too... everything also want to rush... rush for seats, rush for food, even bus also want to rush...
Speaking of bus... There's got to be something wrong when I can't get a freaking bus to take me from SRC to Science in the middle of the afternoon at 3 plus... normally, it's usually quite quiet and I'd have no problems taking it... BUT... yesterday, I couldn't get onto one C bus, 3 A2s and 2 95s... all full and freaking packed... until one poor girl got sandwiched at the door there... It makes me pissed everytime I take the shuttle bus in school cos I see people not moving in, or running up before people have had a chance to alight... damn pissed... Once, I was taking the A2 from the bus stop before science, at NUH... these 2 freaking pussy whipped asses, blocked half the pathway of the bus, just cos their girlfriends were sitting at the isle seats... WTF!!! No one could get past them, cos their bags conveniently blocked the rest of the passage... no emtpy seats behind, but can't move in either... then when I looked straight at one of them the bastard actually managed to look behind him, see the emtpy space, then look back at me... KNN... cannot get the hint ah? If I wasn't stuck near the door, I would have thrown my shoe at him... so bloody pussy whipped that they can't even leave their gf's alone for a while? Inconsiderate A-holes...
Hai~... and they still want to call this a world class university? Long way more man...
Damn tired... going to sleep... hopefully next week will be better, but that's doubtful... SSDD... Same Shit, Different Day...
